✨ A Freshen Up at the Village Hall ✨

As the golden days of summer gently fade and the evenings begin to carry that familiar hint of autumn, something rather wonderful has been happening behind the doors of our beloved village hall. While many of you were off enjoying sun‑splashed holidays, sandy beaches, garden barbecues, and long lazy afternoons, the hall itself was having a little holiday of its own — a full floor makeover.
Yes, it’s true. The main hall floor has been completely resurfaced, and it looks spectacular. Imagine the warm glow of polished wood catching the afternoon light, the smooth finish ready for dancing feet, lively meetings, children’s laughter, and all the community magic that fills this space year after year. The hall feels refreshed, renewed, and just a tiny bit proud of its new shine.
It’s almost as if the building has taken a deep breath, stretched its beams, and said, “Alright then — I’m ready for the new season.”
As we step into autumn, we’re thrilled to welcome everyone back. Whether you’ve been away on adventures or simply enjoying the slower rhythm of summer at home, we hope you return feeling rested, inspired, and excited for what’s ahead. The hall is ready to greet you — brighter, smoother, and eager to host every class, concert, club, and celebration you bring through its doors.

Here’s to a new season, a refreshed space, and a community that keeps growing, gathering, and glowing together.

See you soon — the floor is ready for you.

Miles School of Dancing: Quality Dance Instruction in Henley on Thames

This is our local Ballroom and Latin dance school which hosts practice sessions at Harpsden Hall on the first and third Wednesday of each month.

These evenings give individuals and couples of all levels the chance to rehearse what they’ve been learning in classes and private lessons—on a spacious floor and in a relaxed, friendly environment.

The sessions are led by Lucy Herbert, a teacher at the school and an active competitive ballroom and Latin dancer, who is always available to answer questions and offer guidance.

The school offers group classes from complete beginners to advanced level at Henley Town Hall, as well as private lessons at various local venues. Anyone interested in finding out more should contact Richard Miles via the details below:

New Ultrafast Internet at the Hall

Harpsden Village Hall has been selected as one of the GigaHubs sites by Oxfordshire County Council. GigaHubs is a project led by OCC’s Digital Infrastructure Programme, delivering full fibre broadband infrastructure (FTTP – Fibre to the Premises) into a range of community centres. OCC has chosen BT to deliver the new ultrafast broadband service to the Hall for the next 3 years. Hall users will be able to use the new connection through a new WiFi 6 mesh network, which should be completed in the month of December.

Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Commemorative Bench Installed in Football Ground

On June 5th, 2022 Harpsden celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a Garden Party at Harpsden Court.
Proceeds from ticket sales and a generous donation from the John Hodges’ Trust made it possible to mark the event by commissioning a bench to be installed in the football ground.

Old Phone Box Is Now Book Exchange

A team of volunteers has restored the old BT phone box outside the Village Hall to its former glory. Aptly named the “Wonky Book Box”, it has now become a book exchange for Harpsden residents and visitors.
